New Azimut 53 Fly

Azimut 53 Fly is the new sports cruiser from Azimut Yachts that will compete in the mid-range Flybridge market segment, a segment that Azimut Yachts knows all to well and is regarded as one of the brands setting the benchmark in design and innovation. The WSB team take a closer look at this new arrival.

The yacht’s flowing lines hide surprisingly spacious interiors, making it perfect for a family who want to enjoy long cruises in absolute comfort. The exterior design characterised by a sophisticated aesthetic is by Alberto Mancini, who continues to work in the direction defined with the Shipyard for the latest models in the Flybridge and S collections. The elegant interiors are designed in a contemporary style by the Azimut Style Office.

The stated aim of the 53 Fly is to offer a boat in the 50-foot segment that is perfect for a family who want to spend long periods on board in comfort. All while staying true to Azimut’s hallmark style.

The solution was to combine multiple existing solutions in such a way as to create something new, significantly extending both the space on board and our perception of it. The generously proportioned day area is laid out on almost the same level, with the galley near the entrance and the living area separated by a difference in height of just 25 centimetres.

The surprising sense of airiness and freedom of movement that this creates is enhanced by side windows that run uninterrupted, with no uprights, from just beyond the entrance area to the windscreen.

As a result, natural light and the view over the water are the undisputed protagonists of the yacht, adding to the pleasure of spending time on board.

The storage spaces, the depth of the armchairs and sofas, and the galley appliances have all been
studied down to the smallest detail to ensure functionality, comfort, convenience and durability.

The choice of VOLVO’s IPS propulsion system, which keeps the centre of gravity low and reduces the
amount of space needed in the engine room, makes it possible not only to reduce the height of the
step between the galley and the living area, but also to offer a night area that meets the expectations
of the whole family.

The master stateroom amidships offers a predominantly full-height space to move around in. The storage spaces in the suite are unbelievable, with a fully appointed walk-in wardrobe, in addition to a second storage column and half-height units along the hull side, plus additional space under the bed for bulkier objects.

The lobby has been carefully designed to create space for a washer-dryer machine plus storage space
without reducing the surface area of the third twin-bed cabin, while the partially verticalized bow
makes the VIP cabin particularly roomy, with much more storage space and distance between the bed
and the bulkhead than the market average.

When designing the exterior area, the focus was again on convenience. With only one stairway to the
swim platform, the L-shaped sofa in the cockpit is longer, deeper and therefore more comfortable,
while the exterior storage cabin (or crew cabin) can be accessed directly from the transom. The
setting can also be fitted with a bar unit with ice maker and bottle chillers.

The foredeck and flybridge sunpad cushions have a shape, thickness and size that are an anthem to
laziness and very hard to resist. And in the rear section of the flybridge, the classic dinette becomes
more versatile, proposing an up-down table that turns it into a second lounge area with a privileged
vantage point over the water.

The naval architecture developed by Azimut-Benetti R&D team combined with the choice of a
propulsion system featuring two Volvo Penta IPS 950s, ensures not only more volume on board, but
also comfort, efficiency and manoeuvrability.

The two engines deliver a top speed of 31 knots and a cruising speed of 27 knots, significantly reducing consumption and noise and making mooring operations even simpler.

Azimut have once again raised the bar and delivered a sports cruiser worthy of bigger aspirations, with many units already on the order books, the 53 Fly will be turning heads in marinas across the world.
