Launched in the spring of 2025, Safehaven Marine’s T‑2000 “Voyager” arrives as a game‑changer in high‑speed blue‑water cruising—a luxury explorer catamaran that melds adrenaline-inducing performance with ocean-crossing comfort. Built on the company’s storied pedigree in tough pilot, patrol and SAR vessels, the Voyager is engineered to conquer both serene Mediterranean coves and the fiercest Atlantic swells—all with style and precision. The WSB team takes a closer look at the new arrival for Safehaven.
Robust yet graceful hulls
At 21.4 m (70 ft) overall and a moderate 6.2 m beam, Voyager employs symmetrical semi-wave‑piercing hulls with an inverted bow and flare—a slippery, sharp entry paired with spray-reducing topsides. This design slices through waves like a monohull, without excessive roll or slamming.
Hydrofoil innovation
A hydrofoil raises the catamaran at speeds above ~20 knots, trimming drag and boosting efficiency by up to 25%. As a result, fuel use drops by a third, extending its range to ~1,000 nm at 30 knots.
High-performance propulsion
Twin MAN V12 engines (1,550–2,000 hp each) drive surface-piercing propellers via Twin Disc gearboxes and surface drives. The set-up delivers a top speed of 50–60 knots, yet cruises efficiently at 35–40 knots using just ~115 L/h per engine.
Seakeeping and sea-ward resilience
Derived from Safehaven’s record-setting XSV20 “Thunder Child II” and military SAR vessels, Voyager is rated to withstand Storm Force 10, safely handling severe conditions and tumultuous seas.
Deck and docking dynamics
With 1 m of bridge‑deck clearance and 2–3.5 m cut-back, the hull design minimises wave slam in heavy seas. Variable-speed bow and stern thrusters, combined with “Quick Shift” low-speed gearboxes, make tight-quarters docking effortless.
Helm station
Centred among three large Garmin MFDs, air‑suspension Grammer seats, integrated grab rails, and thick, reinforced glass, the helm exudes both comfort and confidence, even in green water up to 40 knots.
Saloon and garnish
The main cabin features an ergonomic lounge, U-shaped galley, dinette with electric table conversion to a berth, and a glass floor panel lighting the hydrofoil view below. LED lighting and underwater lighting add ambience at anchor.
Private quarters and utility
Accommodation spans a starboard master suite, portside VIP cabin, and optional crew bunk bay—each with en suites. Amenities include a 400 L freshwater tank, 30 L/h watermaker, Dometic 27,000 BTU A/C units, 18 kW generator, 5 kW inverter, and electrics beneath the helm.
Outdoor living
A 250 kg crane launches a 3.5 m tender; aft and forward deck lounges offer social spaces; flybridge helm and seating crown the design—elements found in no ordinary catamaran.
Semi-wave-piercing hulls + hydrofoil combo – reduces drag, boosts efficiency, and mitigates slamming, giving ~1,000 nm at 30 kn, 1,700 nm at 16 kn, and 3,000 nm at 9–10 kn.
Commercial-grade engineering – 30 mm vinylester E-glass topsides, solid laminate lower hull, carbon-fibre reinforcement, and reinforced glass according to naval standards.
Flexible propulsion architecture – supports surface drives, IPS, waterjets, or conventional shafts, tailoring performance to the owner’s needs.
World-class seafaring legacy – blueprint built on pilot and rescue craft; informed by UIM speed records such as Ireland–Iceland crossing.
