Some boats turn heads, and then there is the BRABUS Shadow 38. Built on the acclaimed Axopar 37 platform and engineered through an intensified collaboration between Axopar Boats and BRABUS, this new 38-foot range delivers what its makers call a “One-Second-Wow” effect the moment it comes into view. With up to 1,000 horsepower on tap, top speeds nearing 60 knots, and a design language borrowed straight from the world of BRABUS supercars, the Shadow 38 range is less a boat launch and more a statement of intent. For anyone shopping in the luxury day-boating segment, this is the model to watch.

The range comprises two distinct models sharing the same 11.85-metre hull: the BRABUS Shadow 850 XC Cross Cabin and the BRABUS Shadow 1000 XC Cross Cabin. Both ride on a twin-stepped 20-degree V “sharp entry” hull with a 3.53-metre beam, giving each model the seaworthiness expected of a serious offshore performer while keeping handling sharp and predictable. The Shadow 850 is pitched as the Gran Turismo of the pair, built for effortless long-distance cruising, smooth power delivery and composed high-speed comfort. The Shadow 1000, by contrast, is the range-topping performance flagship, engineered for razor-sharp throttle response and race-inspired intensity. Owners choosing between the two are really choosing between two different personalities on the water, rather than two tiers of the same experience.

Every exterior surface of the Shadow 38 has been shaped to carry unmistakable BRABUS Marine identity. Brand-typical design cues run the length of the hull, translating the aggressive, purposeful styling of BRABUS road cars into a marine context. The result is a silhouette that looks fast even at rest, with sculpted lines, a low profile and an assertive stance that signals performance before the throttle is even opened. This isn’t styling for its own sake; the sharp-entry hull and stepped design are functional choices that directly support the range’s high-speed capability and confident ride in a chop.

Step aboard and the Shadow 38 shifts from aggressive to refined. Premium upholstery, high-grade componentry and meticulous attention to detail create social spaces that BRABUS Marine says deliver a level of luxury normally reserved for significantly larger yachts. Standard accommodation comfortably sleeps two, with an optional aft-cabin package that extends the berths to four, making the Shadow 38 genuinely usable for weekends away rather than day trips alone. Every onboard feature has been engineered with usability in mind, prioritising intuitive movement around the boat, effortless control handling, and layouts that make sense the first time you step aboard.

Where the Shadow 38 range truly separates itself is in its configurability. Deeper joint engineering between Axopar and BRABUS has unlocked more extensive layout options, design details and material selections than any previous Shadow generation. The philosophy behind this is summed up in BRABUS Marine’s own principle of “one boat, one world” — the idea that a single platform should flex to suit dramatically different owner lifestyles without ever compromising on performance, safety or visual impact. This modular approach means two Shadow 38 owners could end up with boats that feel worlds apart, despite sharing an identical hull underneath.

Performance is where the Shadow 38 range makes its most compelling case. The Shadow 850 XC Cross Cabin is powered by twin Mercury Verado 425 V10 engines producing a combined 634kW/850hp, reaching a top speed of up to 55 knots. Its naturally aspirated 5.7-litre V10s are built around an Advanced Midsection and Rugged Gearcase for durable, high-output cruising. The Shadow 1000 XC Cross Cabin steps things up considerably with twin Mercury Racing 500R V8 engines delivering a combined 745kW/1,000hp and a top speed of up to 60 knots. These supercharged 4.6-litre V8s pair an Advanced Racing Core midsection with an R-Drive or R-Drive Sport gearcase, engineered specifically for extreme acceleration and sustained high-speed running. Both boats share a total weight including engines of 6,300kg and a shallow 1.1-metre draft to the drops, while classification covers both offshore (Category B) and coastal (Category C) use, with passenger capacity of up to 12 in Category B or 15 in Category C configuration.

Starting prices are set at 429,000 euros for the BRABUS Shadow 850 XC Cross Cabin and 479,000 euros for the BRABUS Shadow 1000 XC Cross Cabin, excluding shipping, handling, commissioning and taxes. The full range will make its official world premiere at the Cannes Yachting Festival from September 8 to 13, 2026, before appearing at the Monaco Yacht Show from September 23 to 26, 2026.

The BRABUS Shadow 38 range arrives with a rare combination: supercar-grade design credibility, genuinely serious performance figures, and an interior that punches well above its size class. Whether buyers lean toward the composed, long-range character of the Shadow 850 or the race-bred intensity of the Shadow 1000, both models promise to deliver that immediate visual and visceral impact BRABUS Marine has built its name on. As September’s Cannes and Monaco debuts approach, the Shadow 38 looks set to become one of the most talked-about launches in luxury day boating this year. Keep an eye on World Sports Boats for full sea trial coverage once these two superboats hit the water.
