Mulder Shipyard in the Netherlands exhibited its new Mulder 59 Convertible ‘Soft Top’ at the HISWA Amsterdam in-water Boat Show in September. One of the unique features of the yacht is its fully automated convertible hood.
Especially developed for the Mulder 59 Convertible, the hood is made of robust canvas and is push button operated. Another notable feature is the Seakeeper stabiliser system, which uses a gyro for optimal stability both underway and at anchor.
Like its predecessors, the new Mulder 59 Convertible is built fully in aluminium. Two Volvo D9 engines of 575 hp each ensure a top speed of 24 knots and a cruising speed of around 20 knots. The diesel tank was welded into the hull and has a capacity of 3,300 litres.
The water tank and black water tank were also welded into the hull and have a capacity of 1,500 and 950 litres respectively. The yacht also contains a watermaker
Another feature of the new Mulder is the hydraulically adjustable trim flaps, designed for optimal regulation of the trim angle. A spacious tender garage aft with a large hydraulic door provides room for a 3.5-metre jet tender.
The yacht’s hull has been painted in a metallic bronze that is beautifully combined with stainless steel details such as a rubbing strake and decorative air intake frames. The exclusive character of the yacht is underlined by her high-gloss teak bulwarks.
The side decks and the swimming platform have Esthec decks, while the aft deck features a comfortable seating area with modern outdoor upholstery and an automatic high-low table. The fore deck has a sun bed with custom-made cushions.
The walnut interior has lots of stainless steel detailing, including the door knobs, door handles and taps. Floors are a combination of oak and carpeting. The owner’s suite is located forward and has a separate toilet and shower.
The two guest cabins amidships have double beds and share a toilet and shower (which also serves as the day head). All cabins have a TV with DVD player and there are additional TV/DVD players in the saloon and wheelhouse.
The wheelhouse TV is positioned on a platform that disappears into the wall units when not in use, perfect when you have those entertaining evenings in full swing.
The saloon has a spacious seating area finished in luxurious leather. The galley is fully equipped and includes a microwave, oven, induction cooker, refrigerator/freezer and dishwasher.
The Heinen & Hopman air conditioning system is connected to a water heater and can heat the yacht too when required. The wheelhouse has a U-shaped sofa that provides great views over the water and marina, as well as a second refrigerator, icemaker and tap.
The yacht is fully equipped including navigation equipment from Raymarine, radar, VHF, chart plotter, GPS, log/depth, wind set and steering system all you need for those coastal weekend trips.
Mulder Shipyard has rich experience in the construction of aluminium motor yachts. The yard has delivered dozens of aluminium yachts since 1992 and continues to develop this building material and techniques to new models with exciting innovation.

A great looking boat and something a bit different to the usual sports cruisers that are out their, and showing that aluminium can be equally as good as other materials, great review.
