Matt Baker was joined by Olympic Gold medallist, Iain Percy OBE, where the duo greeted the Show’s first guests this weekend. As an ambassador to the Show’s official charity, the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation, Sir Iain Percy comments on the Show’s support: “I’ve been blown away by all the support the charity has already managed to achieve. Working with the PSP Southampton Boat Show now offers us a great opportunity to attract even more young people to sailing.”
The 2014 London Boat Show, Europe’s first boat show of the year, drew to a close yesterday (Sunday 12 January). The Show, which celebrated its 60th anniversary, presented the best of the marine industry and good quality business was conducted at a time when the £2.905bn industry is demonstrating optimism and confidence for the months ahead. A total of 88,593 visited the London Boat Show at ExCeL across the nine days*.
The gates opened early to welcome the celebrity cast of The Mayflower Theatre’s aptly themed Christmas pantomime: ‘Robinson Crusoe and the Caribbean Pirates’ for a special sneak preview. The show cast, which included famous faces such as Brian Conley and Lesley Joseph – of ITV: Birds of a Feather fame – were joined by the Show’s title sponsor PSP, Frank Dixie, PSP MD and Jo Dixie – Goodwin, PSP Marketing Director, who welcomed the cast aboard Phoenicia, a lovingly created replica of a Phoenician Ship.

The launching ceremony, strictly organized in private, was held at the shipyard of the Group in Ancona with a traditional baptism during which a bottle of champagne was shattered on the keel: 21st March, a special day for the launching of the maxi yacht, marks the official opening of the 2012 boating season.
