With doors opening at the end of this month the world’s largest boat show Fort Lauderdale is set to make its 50th show anniversary its best ever!

Prepare to be Dazzled by the Billion-Dollar Golden Anniversary Showcase of the Grande Dames of Yachting, When it comes to superyachts, size does matter.

The dazzling billion-dollar presentation of hundreds of superyachts (80 feet and over) at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show® is a sight to behold. These superstar superyachts take center stage October 29 – November 2, 2009. To experience their glory, just stroll the docks of the show for a glimpse of what the superyacht industry has to offer. Here are some of the celebrity guest-stars you’ll have a chance to meet:

Feadship: 214′ Trident – The Queen of the Show

May we present her royal highness. A paragon of comfort, style and elegance, Trident, this year’s “Queen of the Show,” offers a superb synthesis of Feadship luxury at its best. She possesses a handsomely classic flared bow and modern and tasteful semi-circular extensions with glass bulwarkson the aft decks. Her Highness sees all, including three decks at once via fashion plates on the stern. With a full beam master stateroom fit for an aristocrat, the yacht offers superior accommodations to
the owners and twelve royal guests in seven luxurious suites. Don’t feel like taking the stairs? Use the elevator to travel up through the entire yacht to the sun deck inside, in a virtually seamless solid block of marble. Location: Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina.

Trinity Yachts: 196′ Bacarella

Calm, cool and classy. The largest of five superyachts designed and built by Trinity Yachts, LLC that will be presented by Trinity at this year’s show, Bacarella is charmingly cozy, refreshingly cool and smart as a whip. Her interior is designed by Bannenberg Designs and features mid-tone quarter sawn elm veneer, set out in panels, with the grain running 90 degrees along rebated nickel bands. The full beam owners’ suite is large, in charge and situated on the main deck. This superyacht accommodates a party of 12 in six staterooms, and a crew of 16 in eight cabins. She comes complete with two Caterpillar engines 3512B, producing 2,012 hp which provides for a top speed of approximately 15.5 knots. Her cruising range is 6,000 nautical miles at 10 knots and she’s outfitted with an advanced stabilizing system featuring Quantum 2x active fin with digital controls with Zero Speed™. International Yacht Collection: Presents Heesen Yachts’ 164′ Man of Steel

Pocket full of kryptonite. Quite a few things are noteworthy about Man of Steel. But arguably, the most awe-inspiring feature is the floating glass floor over a bed of black river rock. Upon entering the yacht, you find yourself suspended on a piece of glass. The main salon lies in one direction and the illuminated glass walkway leads to a delicate day head and the VIP suite. The day head contains the same glass and black river rock floor, but here it unfurls up the feature wall, where it is no longer behind glass, but is exposed to the touch. Brilliant colors are drawn upon to create a lively, bright atmosphere in the lower level and especially in the “pop-culture” themed family room where a commissioned Bisazza tile mural is featured. Key recognizable elements such as the maccasa ebony wood, use of period correct sterling silver, crystal, and a platinum color scheme are re-edited into a fresh, modern, Art Deco-inspired salon space. You can pick up on Asian and Zen influences in the custom platforms for the furniture, the square proportions of the cushions, the glass-encased black river rock floor, and simplicity of the floral arrangements. Perhaps the most striking element of this yacht is the use of hot-rolled steel, which is threaded seamlessly and worked in elegantly throughout the yacht. The stairway floats off of the wall,
supported on a steel column, both designed and engineered by the owner himself. The stairs are created out of steel with carpet inserts. Steel is also a notable element in the reveals of the maces ebony cabinetry. Inviting royalty over for dinner? No need to worry, the glassware is all Baccarat and the dinnerware all Hermes. Westport Shipyard: 164′ Evviva

Nouveau chic. A vessel as prized for the artistry of its contours as for the substance of its construction, Westport’s 164-ft. tri-deck flagship was developed using leading-edge three-dimensional modeling and structural software applications to meet every objective for speed, ride, maneuverability, integrity, quality and classing capability. The design and engineering teams collaborated with world-renowned designer Donald Starkey and prominent naval architect William Garden to develop a refined hull form for exceptional ocean-going performance, an innovative accommodation plan, which balances interior and on-deck spaces for maximum enjoyment and versatility, and a contemporary styling that ensures lasting appeal. The six-stateroom layout with on-deck full-beam master suite affords everyone a luxurious private retreat incorporating the finest fabrics, cabinetry, stone and leathers. An innovative arrangement includes a top-deck VIP suite with its own sun deck, a large formal dining room adjacent to the commercial-grade galley, and a garage aft for tenders and water toys. Christensen Shipyards: 160′ Odessa

Latest and greatest. The 160′ Odessa – the latest Christensen Custom Yacht – makes her international debut in Fort Lauderdale. Featuring an all-composite, vacuum-infused hull and superstructure, she has six spacious cabins, including the owners‘cabin, VIP cabin, and four guest cabins, which allow for up to 12 guests. The modern minimalist interior styling commands an attention to detail throughout with woodwork done in satin, black walnut, and complemented with custom stonework. The yacht’s exterior styling was done in-house by Christensen’s naval architects, and features a new forward-raised shear and coaming, combining classic lines and  pre=”and “>sophisticated modern styling. Odessa also marks the first Christensen yacht to feature a black hull and silver painted superstructure. Powered by twin MTU 12V 4000 series engines, she will cruise at a comfortable 12 knots, while topping out at 18 knots. She is fully classified and certified to ABS (Maltese Cross) A1-AMS & MCA Unlimited Cruising. And after final fit out and sea trials, she’ll travel on her own to debut at the Fort Lauderdale show. Burger Boat Company: 151′ Sycara IV

Deco supremo. From the moment one boards Sycara IV they are transported back in time to the elegance and luxury reminiscent of yachting in the Art Deco era. The exterior styling incorporates teak and white painted paneling, madrone burl raised wall panels enhanced with inlaid macassar ebony and accented with paduak molding. Inside the main salon you’ll find teak and sycamore flooring coupled with custom carved geometric wool carpet demonstrating an elegant color scheme of off-white, cream, light gold and taupe neutrals accented with dark rich blue tones. The adjoining dining salon is a completely separate, private space with curved walls and French doors leading to the veranda. The main deck owners’ suite is generous in size, featuring an ensuite bath with madrone burl walls and a white onyx floor. The door is hand cast and finished with Lalique handcrafted crystal. The captain’s and crew cabins and baths continue the elegance of the Art Deco Era with white painted raised panel walls and contrasting mahogany beams, raised panel doors and trim. Delta Marine: 151′ Katya

Sexy. Stylish. Smart. Katya, the latest delivery from Delta Marine, is sexy, stylish and smart. Her curves and sculpted lines are accentuated by a rich, warm shade of white, raised teak cap rail and red boot stripe. Her striking exterior is dominated by a long, raised sheer line with gentle slope. A centerline walkway splits the forward portion of the superstructure and large hull-side windows to lengthen her stance. The result: a sleek and graceful presence on the water. The main salon is surrounded by breathtaking views through large windows and curved glass entry doors. The yacht’s stone-floored foyer and central staircase with a unique brushed stainless balustrade and sweeping khaya handrail act as a focal point of fine craftsmanship and dramatic curves. Her decks, with large walk-arounds, offer a wide selection of entertaining and dining sites and options. In addition to the aft dining area on the main deck, the upper deck is also configured with a generous outdoor dining area for ten. The perfect spot for a dinner party to remember. Explore the world on water. Unique by concept, exceptional beauty by design, Marco Polo 148-ft. Transoceanic Explorer is an excellent culmination of steadfast reliability through superior engineering, matched with luxurious yet tasteful accommodations. The company describes her as being a blend of merchant ship and motoryacht. Designed by Ron Holland and constructed by Cheoy Lee Shipyards, Marco Polo sets the standard exploring far reaches of the globe efficiently with the highest degree of safety and comfort. The large master suite is located on the top deck to provide the ultimate in privacy, not to mention spectacular views. Trinity Yachts: 141′ Big City

Subtly sophisticated. Big City boasts a subtle, sophisticated interior, complemented by a distinctive dark blue hull. Designed by Patrick Knowles, her interior is exquisitely appointed with textured fabrics that add depth and distinction to the soft, calming décor featured throughout. She captures the nuances of both contemporary styling and traditional sensibilities. Most notable amongst her incredible features are the Portuguese bridge seating area located forward of the pilothouse and the 18′ x 28′ swim platform, a Trinity trademark, that is large enough to enjoy sunbathing or even dining, at sea level. Nothing has gone unnoticed on this sophisticated lady, from the top deck hot tub to the custom designed staterooms and luxuriously comfortable salon.

 Bartram & Brakenhoff: Presents Westship’s 132′ Northern Lights

With twin MTU 2,750 hp engines giving speeds of up to 23 knots, she promises to be a fun, stylish and exciting yacht that will no doubt exceed the expectations of her owners and guests. Italian hardwood continues throughout the main deck living areas, including the
open salon and main dining area.
